Happy Holidays!
Welcome to all of our Feathered Friends, Bird Owners, care givers and supporters!
The Holiday season is here and Feathered Friends is celebrating with the Grand Opening of our new Porch Addition on Saturday, Dec 20th 2008 from 11am to 5pm
Winter Housing Expansion Needs Your Help!
As you know, we were able to expand the porch area to house our special needs and adoptable birds thanks to a very generous local builder and your donations. Joey Brush and Company worked around the weather to add the exterior structure to our concrete. Large window frames were added for the removable 30" x 80" windows. The entry has an area for the sign-in table. Another door was added to connect to the front macaw flight. In the future, this will become a visitation and adoption enclosure, where folks can interact with the birds in a secure area. The new area was designed to be wide enough for wheelchair access.
PEX tubing was cast in the concrete to provide radiant heat in the floor so the birds will always be evenly warm. We are just waiting for the right deal on an electric water heater.
As you know we are the boarding facility for birds belonging to our troops stationed overseas. We are also a bird shelter for hurricane evacuations, so we need the extra space. These new additions will add almost 800 square feet to our building and accommodate at least 50 of the stacked cages that have already been donated by the Petco Foundation for this expansion.
Thanks to Joey, his staff and those of you who donated, we now have a beautiful new area for the parrots!
Come visit during the holiday season. Gas is cheap and there are too many new birds and improvments to list!
We still need to raise additional funds to finish the interior and insulation.
The birds and staff thank you for your caring and extra help!
