Open House - May 21, 2011

Dear Friends,

Our May 21st Open House was AWESOME! Those of you who made it know what we mean. The music was Fantastic, Mel had is entire music studio set up so between live sets and his vast collection there were always tunes playing. We want to thank all the bands who came out and donated their time and talent to entertain everyone at the Rescue event as well as our world wide audience on the internet broadcast. There were donations from everywhere and we hope that some of you are still planning to help us realize the next phase of construction. A word about food..... there were some hungry folks here! Scrounge had to make a run for more burgers and ice. The blooming onions, battered fries and deep fried mushrooms were all a hit. We had a special treat with sausages prepared by Ed in a traditional South African manner. They went fast but luckily I was quick enough to get one. Special Thanks! to Dixie Distribution for their last minute donation of RC cola and other drinks. The only thing missing was a moon pie! There were three special highlights for the day. First was the presentation of the $2500 donation check from the Vic's Riders Block Party by Tim Westberry and Peg Randall. This was followed by the dedication of the new "Fids Playground" which is what their donation was used to build.
